Is this couple Mary Jones and James Thomas? Sadly, we cannot be certain. The picture belonged to Mary Thomas, and we can see was taken in Newcastle Emlyn. It is believed to be of her parents, but there is no inscription.
The original of this picture on stiff card, and is in two halves after being damaged.
Is it the same gentleman as this picture? The lady is Mary Bevan (nee Thomas)

He was a quiet and prudent (or wise), his influence was great and he was highly respected in the district where he spent a long life of service, and he was an example of an honest and diligent worker. James Thomas was a type of old puritan, and he never faltered in his place as a member and official in the Watch Tower, where he was a respected deacon for twelve years. His aim in life was diligence , and he accomplished this towards his Bethel, his cottage and his work, and because of this he made many friends and admirers. His minister, the Reverend M P Morgan, Blaenannerch, officiated on the day of his funeral, assisted by the Reverends ……
