News

Perhaps the description "News" is a bit over the top, but I decided to add a sheet where any future additions, observations or comments could be appended.

Retirement

I have completed my first year of retirement and so far I have no regrets. Although you do miss the daily banter and exchange of views that were taken forgranted when working. But e-mail still keeps me in touch.

It also takes time to build up your leisure activities. At first you try to cram as much as possible into each day, because you have been used to working continuously from 9 to 5, I even started to set myself targets for completing the redecoration. But gradually you relax and revert to a more leisurely pace. The best feeling is waking up in the morning and realising that you can do whatever you want with your day.

November 2001
I have recently added two more sections to my Home Pages, the first is a brief history of the Phillips Judy offshore platform, which is a typical North Sea Oil Project. The second I have titled "Days Out" and describes some of the best local attractions we have visited in the last year.

March 2002
I received an email and photographs from Malcolm Stephens who is on assignment in Nova Scotia with a small team from Kvearner. This was such an unusual location that I have presented the photographs on a separate page on this site (see Nova Scotia button on the home page).

May 2002
I have updated the "Where I Live" page to give more information on Beckenham and better photographs, plus a new image page background. A new item on Maritime Greenwich has been added to the Days Out section.

Also all the remaining site page backgrounds have been changed to a lighter pattern.

November 2002
The Front Page has been updated including a new logo. Some scenes of Bromley town centre have been added to the 'Where I Live' page and a new page on Sheffield Park has been added to the Days Out section.

August 2003
I am sorry that nothing new has been added to this site recently, but I have been concentrating on my 'Personal Tour of Yorkshire' and 'Places to Go' sites. I have also been constructing a site called 'Watercolours of France' for a neighbour. I thought I had better add a note to this neglected site, in case my fans missed me !!

October 2004
At last I have got around to giving my home page a bit of a make-over. There is a new logo on the introduction page and a new extensive section on "Around and about Beckenham" with many photographs and much information about the area. There is also a link to my latest site called "Gardens to Go" previewing gardens in the South of England, this also replaces my "Days Out" section which has now been deleted from this site.

May 2007
I have added information to the Engineering Page about the book published to celebrate H&G's centenary. Unfortunately this was a private publication and is now out of print.
I have also added a page on Croydon Town to my "where I live" section, as well as being close to Beckenham, it was also the location of the Kvaerner Oil & Gas offices.
