The
Phillips Petroleum Judy Platform is a manned oil and gas production platform
located in UK block 30/7a of the North Sea. Initial design work for the
project commenced late in 1992, the platform was loaded out in 1995 and was
ready for production in early 1996.
 My
company Kvaerner H&G Offshore Ltd. were part of the integrated team
responsible for the detailed design and procurement of the Topsides. I was part
of the electrical group responsible for the design of the power generation,
distribution and lighting systems.
The topsides comprise of a 9,200
tonne integrated deck, 88 metres long 30 metres wide and 15.5 metres high plus
the 3,500 tonne Gas Treatment Module.
The facilities include the 24 slot
wellbay, separation, gas compression, accommodation for 50 people, utilities,
helideck, flare and crane.
The topsides are supported on a 6 leg steel
jacket.
Judy is the name assigned to the main platform and Joanne the
name for the subsea manifold designed by Aker Engineering. The Phillips
tradition is to name the fields alphabetically, using the name of a female
relative of the projects senior geologist !. |
