PROGRAMME FOR 2018

January 12 Featured guests - Bearwood
This is a local trio comprising Mandy Shora, Steve Jackson and Colin Bailie. They play guitar, flute and bouzouki and all contribute to the vocals. Their material is a mix of traditional and self penned songs. When they performed at our Christmas party in 2016 they bowled us over with some beautiful harmony singing. It's great to be able to feature a talented local band to kick off 2018.

February 9 Blossom Hill
Over the years Gary and Sherryl Payne have provided us with entertaining evenings under the name of Payne's People. This year they are doing something different. Their revived band, Blossom Hill, which also includes Richard Holland and Ed Armstrong, are going to be our guests. Some of you will already have heard them perform at Boars Bridge Festival. Their material is mainly American including Bluegrass. This should be a lively and fun evening!

March 9 Sally Ironmonger and Brian Carter
Sally is a lady with a great voice that needs no amplification. Husband Brian is a fine guitarist and her accompanist. They write much if their own material, based on their home area in Kent. Their songs include a mix of humour, melancholy and fun. It's 2 years since their last visit so we are pleased to welcome them back to Poppy's - an evening not to miss!

April 13 Singers night

May 11 Jim MacLean
Our LAST NIGHT at Blackwater Valley Golf Centre so who better to see us off than Jim MacLean, a popular guest and club supporter who needs no introduction to Poppy's audiences. He is a great guitarist, song writer and all round performer. This is bound to be a busy evening so be sure you get there early if you want a good seat!

June 8 Our first night in the new venue at HAWLEY LEISURE CENTRE will be a Singers night

Another date for your diaries: 22-24 June Boars Bridge Festival 2018

July 13 Singers night

August closed

September 14 Guest - Jack Theaker
Jack is a talented young man from the Fleet area, who has become a popular performer at both local clubs. He is a music student, and as well as performing with a band, he is a most entertaining solo performer. We are really looking forward to featuring him at the club.

October 12 Guest - Lynne Whiteland and friends
Lynne is one half of the Tudor Lodge duo who perform frequently at the club. On this occasion she is pulling in some other musicians to play and sing with her. Lynne is a talented song writer and performer, and knowing some of her equally talented friends, we can assure you that this will be a very enjoyable evening!

November 9 Guests - TWO COATS COLDER for this night only at the Albert Social Club in Fleet, GU51 3RL
This will be the band's 4th visit to the Poppy's - always very popular. Instrumentally and vocally they are excellent entertainers, with a wonderful range of songs, many self written, but including material from other songwriters. This is a special occasion, so do support us for what will I'm sure be another wonderful Poppy's evening.

December 14 Christmas party
Songs associated with the time of year will be appreciated, but we don't really mind what you sing! A small contribution to the food table is welcome - details nearer the time.
