The original is on the west (Irish Sea) coast of England, close to the Welsh border. However, the name Liverpool has spread throughout the English speaking world and beyond.

The following selection of "Liverpools" from around the world is possibly not complete. There have also been Liverpools that have existed in the past but do not today. An example is "New Liverpool" in North Carolina. Today it is called "Wilmington" after the governor at the time of incorporation in 1739, the "Earl of Wilmington".

As well as the following , there are numerous examples in street names.   For example, in Montreal in the Canadian province of Quebec, a city with maritime links to Liverpool, there is today a "Rue Liverpool".   In the USA, there are "Liverpool Drives" in Cardiff (California), in Valley City (Ohio), and in Plano (Texas). In Houston, Texas, another port city, there is a "Liverpool Street".   Liverpool Street in Queens, New York was the scene of the shooting of Sean Bell by police after he left his bachelor party at Kaluh Cabaret on the 25th of November 2006.   There is also a "Liverpool Street" in Hobart, Tasmania.
