In 1682 the "Submission", one of William Penn's fleet of twenty-three ships bound for Chesapeake Bay in North America with immigrants from Liverpool contained three Harrisons. They were James Harrison aged 54, Anna Harrison aged 58 and Agnes Harrison aged 80.

The famous Liverpool based shipping company T & J Harrison was a family business founded in 1853. It was managed by Thomas and James Harrison [B21].

Reginald Carey Harrison, otherwise known as "Sir Rex Harrison" was born in Huyton on the 5th of March 1908. The house he lived in, a semi-detached property known as "Derry Lodge" still exists on Tarbock Road and not far away is "Harrison Hey", a road named after him. He became a famous actor both in films and on the stage. Before joining the Liverpool Repertory Theatre in 1924 at the age of 16 and making his theatre debut the same year, he had attended Liverpool College. He remained a member of the repertory company for over twenty years.

George Harrison, the youngest member of The Beatles was born on the 25th of February 1943 at Wavertree. George's father Harold Harrison worked as a steward for the Liverpool based shipping company "White Star Line" during the period 1926 to 1936.
