Elizabeth Collier married our John William Furby (born 1812) in 1833.

Her maternal grandmother was Ann Gaucheron (1752-1798). Ann's father (b~1703) and grandfather (1681-1775) were both named Louis Gaucheron and Louis senior was born (about 1681) at Bazoches en Dunois in France, which is north west of Orleans and a little east of Chateaudun in the department of Eure & Loir in Normandy. The remote village of Bazoches en Dunois is the last location in France where one of our Gaucheron ancestors was born and there are still people with the surname Gaucheron living in the area as at 2012.

The father of Louis Gaucheron (b.1681) was Pierre Gaucheron who was born at Chateaudun on the 18th of September 1655. Chateaudun is a town with a long history and many ancient buildings still in existance including the famous chateau overlooking the River Loir.

Through Pierre's father Charles Gaucheron (b.April 1629) and his father Josias Gaucheron (b.~1605), the Gaucherons have been traced back to his father in turn who was Thomas Gaucheron (~1565-1630) who was born at Ozoir in France. The early Gaucherons lived in the hamlet Auvilliers near Ozoir le Breil which is a little south of Bazoches en Dunois and south-east of Chateaudun.

For more information on the Gaucheron family see Reference 006.

On the 17th of October 2009, a meeting of Gaucheron descendents from around the world took place a Bipshopsgate, London including many Furbys. The gathering included a tour around nearby Spitalfields to view various sites connected to Gaucherons, Huguenots and the weaving business. Another gathering took place on the 8th of October 2011 at the same place.
