Introduction

Calling all Dysons in England and Australia! Perhaps you have a link with my DYSON family and can help me find relatives in Australia. Perhaps I can help you find relatives in England.

WILLIAM CHARLES DYSON b. 1891
My grandfather was William Charles Dyson who was born on 27th December 1891 in Tottenham, which was then in the county of Middlesex. In 1901 he was living with his grandparents William and Hannah Elsmore at No. 8 Waggon Lane in Tottenham. His two sisters were Rose Emma Dyson born around 1888 and Ellen Louise Dyson born around 1898. Both were born in Tottenham.

JAMES DYSON b. 1863

James was born at Castle Camps, Cambridge, England. He is supposed to have gone to Australia around the late 1890s, possibly about 1898. It appears he had left England by 1901 as he does not appear on the census return for that year. Elizabeth Dyson was born in Deptford, Kent.

CHARLES DYSON b. 1833
James’s parents were Charles Dyson who was born around 1833 in Helions Bumpstead, Essex, England and his mother Eliza Dyson born around 1840 at Steeple Bumpstead, also in Essex. Helions Bumpstead’s history goes back to Saxon times and it is still a thriving community today.

JAMES DISON
Charles’s parents were James Dison and Susanna Andrews.

I am trying to solve the mystery surrounding JAMES DYSON. Did he emigrate to Australia as family rumours have suggested? Apparently someone travelled from Australia to my grandfather’s house No. 2 Forster Road, Tottenham looking for family connections during the 1960s, but everyone was too busy to help them with their quest.
