Anglo-Saxon BatterseaIn 693 AD a land charter records that the manor of Battersea was given as a gift by King Cędwalla, King of the West Saxons. Unfortunately, the recipient of this gift is harder to determine. The original name has been erased and the name of Westminster Abbey inserted.
