My Route in 2017

The picture below is a track of my actual route in 2017. I have also prepared a track file which is usable on a Garmin or similar GPS.

Track File

This map and the track have been updated to take account of landslide below Palazzola and using my preferred path from Nemi, through the woods.

Save the file in the usual way, by right-clicking on the link and choosing ‘save as’. This file can also be viewed and edited by pointing your browser at www.gpxeditor.co.uk and loading the file from your hard disc. You’ll be able to see more detail this way, too, even if you don’t have a GPS, because the web site allows you to zoom in.

I made a note of the times when I got to each of the towns, and I’m intending to use these as a benchmark for future walks. If you’re thinking of doing the walk, you may like to refer to these as well, so I’ve put them in a text file here, an Excel file here and a PDF file here. When I did the walk as a student, I’m fairly sure we started about six o’clock and finished some time around eight in the evening. So if you’re younger and fitter than I am now, you’ll probably beat my times by a considerable margin!

Note that the distances quoted in these files are the actual distances walked when I did it in 2017, rather than the distance according to the GPX file that I followed (the one given above). The actual distance walked is always somewhat greater than that on the track you plot out on the computer!
