One was drifting south on the sea past Ness Point on the 15th. A flock of ten flew north past Kessingland on the 27th.

One flew south past Gunton Beach on the 2nd. Six flew south past Kessingland the same day. Five were at Leathes Ham on the 8th. Two flew south past Kessingland on the 25th.

The photo below shows a drake Gadwall found dead below overhead wires at Lound water works on 30th April. Swans aren't their only victims. The red on the breast is blood marking the site of impact with the wire.

One was flushed twice by farm machinery at Mutford on the 6th and 11th. Two flew across a track between fields of crops at Gisleham on the 14th, a pleasant surprise for the observers who were watching a Corn Bunting when the two Quail flew across a short distance behind it!
Two were again seen in flight at Gisleham on the evening of the 23rd.

On the 2nd one apparently arrived in off the sea over the MoD fields at Corton, continued inland just beyond the old railway line and settled in the pea field to sleep.
The distance and heat haze resulted in only very poor record shots being obtained, the one above being the best of a bad lot. Although the shot that on closer inspection turned out to be a lump of earth was marginally worse!

Twelve were noted at Burgh Castle on the 5th; with three on nearby Breydon South Flats on the 14th. One flew south past Kessingland on the 28th.

One was still at Ness Point on the 1st, with two on the 2nd. One was there again on the 7th. Now in the non-purple breeding plumage.

12th - At 19:30 five Poms flew north together past Kessingland.
13th - Five flew north past Kessingland on the 13th (a further five were also seen northbound at Covehithe just to the south of our area the same day).
14th - Seven north at Kessingland (4 @ 7:45, 3 N @ 9:10).
15th - One flew north past Ness Point on the evening of the 15th (four had flown north past Covehithe early morning on the 15th).
16th - One north past Kessingland.
17th - One north past Kessingland.

A pair were at Lound water works on the 15th.

For the second year running a pair at Henstead are using an old House Martin nest.

HOODED CROW x CARRION CROW Corvus cornix x C. corone
One of the regular hybrids was noted at Burgh Castle on the 5th. One was also at Hopton on the 14th.
HOUSE SPARROW Passer domesticus
A male was trapped and ringed at Kessingland sewage works on the 11th. The first to be ringed there, it also had fat levels more usually associated with a migrant, so was perhaps not a local resident. A partially leucistic male was seen in Sussex Road, Lowestoft on the 18th.
