There are many interesting places to visit in and around Nerja. Using local buses you can easily visit the nearby Caves of Nerja and the Moorish White Village of Frigiliana.

Further afield there are exciting places to visit by car or coach. Coach tours are available throughout the year and can be booked at local travel agents in Nerja and there are many car hire companies in town.

Examples of worthwhile visits are:

   Generalife Gardens in Granada together with the famous and stunning Alhambra Palace; the seat of the Moorish rulers of Spain for hundreds of years.

En route to Granada you will pass the entrance to the beautiful Alpujarra Valley in the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was here where, after defeat by the Catholic kings, the last remaining Moors lived before finally being expelled from Spain in about 1650.

Towards the west you can visit the city of Malaga with its modern shopping facilities and its historic buildings or even Gibraltar, Britain's last colony on mainland Europe.
