Anchor Crossing - April 2003

After gradually becoming overgrown with scrub in recent years, the stretch of trackbed immediately north of Anchor Crossing has latterly found a new use as a timberyard.

Nonetheless, its railway origins are plain to see, with much of the original ballast still visible. Unfortunately a combination of undergrowth and the substantial gates of the yard make a meaningful comparison shot with that in our photo archive impossible.

Out of sight in the distance is the Ouse bridge. (Grid Ref. TQ 441 161)
