At a time when - despite publicity to the contrary - the south east's road system is being constantly improved and extended, it seems strange that this rail corridor has been allowed to stagnate.

This view towards Uckfield graphicallly illustrates the unexploited potential of the Wealden Line -- an underused, largely single track railway on a well aligned double track formation.

We believe that only the route's restoration as a through route will allow it to play the role it should in the region's transport system. (Grid Ref. TQ 497 233)
