Uckfield - March 2000The trees to the left are growing on the south side of the former railway cutting in this view towards Isfield. Without the protection given to the route by East Sussex County Council's structure plan, it is likely that factories would soon block the route entirely in this area.
Fortunately, only car parks have actually been built on the trackbed and moving the route of the railway a few metres south would allow both industry and a restored railway to happily co-exist. (Grid Ref. TQ 467 207)
