Isfield - March 2000Although the route of the railway is protected against any development which would prevent its re-opening, this has not prevented its sale to private individuals.
Unfortunately, Wealden District Council did not take up the offer of the whole route when it was offered to it by BR for £12,500 in 1982.
As can be seen in this view towards Barcombe,
various residents have taken the opportunity to extend their gardens
across the trackbed, although the route remains clear enough.
