Isfield - July 2002

The view towards Uckfield. The vehicles on the left were part of a large collection of diesel shunters then accommodated on the site.

The trees in the far distance mark the current extent of rail operations here, Isfield being the only station.

Though the rail enthusiasts have achieved a great deal since they took over, they simply do not have the resources to create a train service that would be of interest to local commuters or shoppers.

We believe the only way to achieve this is to restore this section of route as part of the national network, with the current operators naturally receiving fair compensation in return making way for modern trains. (Grid Ref. TQ 454 175)
