Bevern Stream bridge - June 2002

Midway between Barcombe Mills and Anchor Crossing, the substantial twin span structure seen in this northward looking view takes the route across a tributary of the River Ouse.

Like many other structures on the projected route of a restored Wealden Line, it appears to be in good condition despite its 35-year-plus maintenance 'holiday'. Fortunately a number of trees whose roots were threatening to damage the brickwork have been removed in recent years.

Few people walking this section of route can fail to be struck by how easy it would be to relay the track and put this route back to work for Sussex people. (Grid Ref. TQ 436 155)
