Lewes station - April 2003

Here and there poignant reminders can still be found of the lost route. These broken blocks of concrete once supported point rodding controlled by the nearby Lewes 'B' signalbox.

The latter still exists today -- now named simply 'Lewes' -- although its mechanical lever frame was scrapped in September 1976. If our campaign is successful, the box may yet signal trains to Uckfield and Crowborough again.
