Lewes - Every's Bridge - April 2003The massive structure that can be seen in our photo archive was demolished in 1971. It was the first of three major river crossings on the way out of the town.
So thorough was the process of demolition that today it would be almost impossible to be certain of the bridge's location -- were it not for this solitary pier stump, so close to the bank of the Ouse, that it was apparently not considered worth removing. (Grid Ref. TQ 418 105)
