Lewes - Malling - April 2003

To the north of the Tesco site, which was developed in the early 1990s, is a large area of open space, much of which was formerly occupied by the embankment of the Lewes - Uckfield line until its demolition in the early 1970s.

Beyond this area, the route of the railway can be traced again, as it makes the transition from embankment to Malling cutting. To facilitate access to the old trackbed, which is now in use as path, a landscaped ramp has been created.

The eastern bank of the River Ouse is just out of shot to left of this scene. (Grid Ref. TQ 415 109)
