Hurst Green - May 2001

This station was opened in June 1961 in response to local housing development, replacing a small wooden halt situated to the south of the nearby road bridge.

Despite the fact that it is a busy commuter station on an electrified route, it has not escaped the general neglect found on the Uckfield line proper -- as was evidenced by the poor condition of the canopy in this photo. (Grid Ref. TQ 400 514)
