Eridge - October 2000

With the end of the Tonbridge service, the former platform 1 was no longer required and after gathering rust for some years, the track was finally removed around the time that the 'mainline' was singled.

Perhaps surprisingly, Eridge is not a listed building. In recent years it has been badly hit by vandals, with many windows smashed and its platfrom facilities boarded up.

However, with renewed attempts by the Spa Valley Railway to run trains into the station from Tunbridge Wells, and having become the base for the Uckfield line's new 'Devlopment Officer', its future may be looking brighter. (Grid Ref. TQ 543 346)
