Single line at Hever - October 2000

Just to the south of Hever, the double track running south from Hurst Green converges into a single line. As at other similar locations, the points here are spring-loaded, automatically directing trains onto the appropriate track without intervention from the signaller at Oxted.

In the aftermarth of the Cowden accident in October 1994, this junction was equipped with a SPAD (Signal Passed At Danger) system. This provides a highly visible warning to any driver who passes the signal protecting this section at danger. (Grid Ref. TQ 468 443)
