North from Hever - June 2003Unit 205 032, one of the 'newest' batch of class 205s, built between 1959 and 1960, coasts into the station on a Saturday afternoon Uckfield service.
North of Hever the line follows an almost straight alignment on gently falling gradients towards Edenbridge Town, underlining its untapped potential as a high-speed north-south link.
By contrast, local roads across the Weald
are generally poor and indirect, with even the principal towns
being poorly served. But any significant improvement to the road
system here would be very costly and raise serious environmental
concerns. (Grid Ref. TQ 465 445)
