Uckfield - October 2003On 2 October, the Serco test train made one of its periodic visits to the Uckfield line to monitor and record the quality of the track, facilitating future maintenance programmes.
Unfortunately no special equipment is needed to assess the quality of the track over the next seven miles of the route to Lewes!
With the addition of some rails, this test train could have been past Lewes and well on its way to Seaford in just quarter of an hour.
