Buxted - July 2003

During the spring and summer of 2003, as with several other stations on the route, work was carried out here to lower the platform to accommodate the new class 170 Turbostars.

As can be seen, this left the floor level in the booking office several inches above the new platform level. To avoid the risk of a step and maintain access for the disabled, the solution was the ramp seen under construction here.

In this view, 205 012, one of the two-car units, is about to depart on a mid-morning shuttle run to Oxted.
