Tunbridge Wells West - 1975

The signalman at Tunbridge Wells West B box is about to hand the driver of this Tonbridge -bound train the single line token for the short section to Grove junction. The starting signal can just be seen in the clear position, and beyond it, the western portal of Grove tunnel.

This box was the only structure at Tunbridge Wells West ever to be repainted in the then standard black and white colour scheme. Everything else soldiered on in flaking, faded cream and green until closure in July 1985.
