Eridge - 1981

A Victoria-Uckfield train pulls into the station in this January 1981 photograph.

At the adjacent bay platform, the Tonbridge train has already arrived, providing a convenient connection for southbound passengers.

Note the antique signalling equipment, unchanged from Southern Railway days - interesting for the enthusiast but a bad omen for the future. One commentator described the Uckfield line at this time as a "dieselised Bluebell Railway".
