Uckfield - October 1980

An Oxted bound service ready for departure, one Sunday afternoon towards the end of the month.

This class 207 DEMU is painted in British Rail's 'rail blue' livery, which was current form the late 1960s until the early 1980s.

But for the disappearance of the up platform's canopy and waiting room, this photograph could almost have been taken in 1968, when this train would have started in Brighton rather than Uckfield.

No doubt there would have been many more passengers on board had that been the case!
