The view from Malling towards Lewes. Beyond the bridge in the foreground, the route no longer exists, having been progressively demolished and built over during the 1970s. In the distance can be seen Every's bridge -- the final crossing over the river Ouse before Lewes.
The fields in the middle distance are now occupied by factories and shops, including the Lewes branch of Tesco's. To rebuild the route on this alignment would be prohibitively expensive.
