Tunbridge Wells West - July 1985

Despite many years of wilful neglect, Tunbridge Wells West retained a certain grandeur right until the end.

In retrospect it is quite easy to see that the station could have made the ideal turnback station for Hastings line electrics terminating at Tunbridge Wells -- and still have offered plenty of space for new retail developments and car parking.

But BR and its government masters decreed otherwise.
