Tunbridge Wells - July 1985

Beyond Grove tunnel, a single track curved past back gardens towards Grove Junction where it would join the Hastings line.

This was the only section of single track on the route between Eridge and Tunbridge Wells -- and was so constructed because it originally linked the rival South Eastern and Brighton lines, and thus its importance as a through route was not initially appreciated.

Since closure, this area soon became so overgrown that it was impossible to take any meaningful comparison shots.
