Groombridge - September 1985With the last empty stock trains only having run the previous month, the rails still retain a little of their polish -- although it is fading fast.
This stretch of cutting immediately to the west of Groombridge station is now the location of the Spa Valley Railway's modern concrete platform, constructed on the formation of the former up line -- to the right in this view.
Present day residents of the Tunbridge Wells area may be surprised to learn that direct trains from Tunbridge Wells to Victoria once passed this way -- and could easily do so again given the political will.
