Birchden - July 1985

In the last week of the service's operation, a Tonbridge - Eridge train slowly runs across the set of unworked trailing points (the notice in the foreground warns of their presence) to join the 'main line' for the last stage of its journey to Eridge.

As the picturesque but obsolete signalling suggests, practically nothing had been spent on the route since the days of the Southern Railway.
