Planting started in 1990 and there are now some 50 acres of producing vines on soils ranging from river gravels with limestone to alluvial loams over gravels. The blocks in the vineyard differ in height and aspect with the river terraces being partially encompassed by cliffs. Initially we planted on what we thought were the most suitable sites for each variety. Now, apart from extending the initial blocks, we are planting on alternative sites within our farm - looking for additional fruit complexities from the differing aspects and soils.
