What we know so far

The UK Tamplins

Our preliminary findings suggest that most of the UK Tamplin's are located in the southern half of the UK with a large number of Tamplin names in the South Wales area (Mid/ South Glamorgan and Gwent) and many of these seem to belong to the farming community.

I myself, stem from another Tamplin family group which existed for many years in the Edenbridge (Kent) ,Limpsfield (Surrey) areas and many earlier Tamplin's were employed as farm-hands on the Titsey Place estate of the local squire's family (the Leveson-Gowers), where there were many local marriages between the Tamplin, Cook and Outtrim families.

So far we have not been able to find a conclusive family link between the group of Tamplin's who lived in Surrey, Sussex and London (Middlesex) and the Welsh Tamplin's who resided mainly in Monmouth and Glamorgan. However, it is possible that an important interconnecting point may be the Tamplin's in Gloucestershire, (the Lydney area), who may be regarded as a half way house between the Welsh and S E England communities.
