Through contacts in New Zealand, we have collected many Tamplin and Tampling names.
Some of the Tamplins emigrated to New Zealand and at least one was transported for what would nowadays be regarded as very minor crimes.
It would appear that in order to disassociate themselves from the criminal element, some of the Tamplin descendants added a 'g' to become Tamplings.
