Wondering why things go wrong for some riders?
Needing some suggestions on how to fix your own riding?
Looking for some pointers on improving your riding?

Wonder, need or look no more because...

"Fix Your..."
available soon!

The "Fix Your..." series of short e-articles aims to show you where other riders got it wrong and what the fix would have been, and thus allowing you to plan for and avoid the 'Worst Case Scenario' when you come across the same situation yourself.

The content is based on actual questions asked me by real riders in a decade of online interaction on motorcycle forums and via the Survival Skills website. We'll be looking at issues like cornering, steering, throttle input, braking, positioning for bends and junctions, visibility issues - and many, many more!

The first article is due out in the spring! WATCH THIS SPACE!

The content is highly relevant to all riders, from those just starting out on bike to those who've already taken training from any source.

System requirements Windows 95,98, ME, NT4, 2000 or XP or later, Internet Explorer v4.0 or above.

...it's good, sensible, non-patronising, appealing, simple and uncluttered advice... exactly covers what we covered ...

"The Survival Skills CDROM is a work of genius. I'll definitely be recommending your CD to a few people who I know will benefit from it."
Kevin Wells

I've got [book by well known US writer] and both of the Survival Skills CD-ROMS. Of the two, I found Kevin's ebooks to be by far the most useful - they're excellent.

"Very impressed with layout, methodology, and content. Very well thought out... The overall presentation and content make your notes a pleasure to read and study."
 John Clune

"Just what I was looking for, a special present to the wife to congratulate her on passing her test."
Tony

"Perfect! Figured out what OSM/PSL means already! I had been wondering! I see many moments passing.... my wife may not be so grateful!"

Some questions that gets asked from time to time

"why aren't the Survival Skills series of CDROMs
published in book form?"

There are two simple answers:

  • - by not going though a conventional publisher, I cover all the production costs which keeps the cover price to you the customer, down
  • - I retain complete control over the contents and can thus update the content at short notice

"Don't they cover the same stuff?"

In a word, no! "Course Notes" is a developmental training program, which looks at the key skills you need on a bike and shows you how to improve them. "Tarmac Tactics" is more 'situational', in that it looks at a wide range of scenarios that a rider might find themselves in, offers an overview of the threats they pose and suggestions on how to stay out of trouble. There's some content overlap, but the context and presentation is very different.

"Are they suitable for a rider with advanced qualifications or for a new rider?"

Definitely for both! Not least because they'll make you think about what you have learned, they will almost certainly cover some issues like rider psychology that you didn't look at on your training, and hopefully will make you look at riding in a different light. Riding skills are a continuum anyway, so the e-books allow you to build on what you already know rather than approach advanced riding from the much repeated but totally incorrect "forget what you learned to pass the test and do something completely different" stance.
