Handicap format
The Senior Winter Handicap consists of a series of eight road races run on certain Tuesdays throughout the winter months (see Race dates). All eight races follow the same hilly course of approximate 4.5 miles in distance and start at the Penistone Leisure Centre on Manchester Road. Runners are given a time handicap at the start of the race based on their ability. At the end of each race, runners are awarded two sets of
points. The first set is related to the runner's finishing position in the race, and the second set is related to the runner's actual time, modified by a factor related to the runner's age and gender. These points are accumulated over the eight races and trophies will be awarded to the runners with the highest number of points at the end of the series.
NOTE: This event is primarily intended for PFR&AC club members only, however, members of another running club may take part as a guest runner if they wish but they will not be included in the scoring.
