DOMS is a FOCUS based system in an MVS/TSO online and and batch environment, making heavy use of Simultaneous Updating. Essentially a production monitoring and control system tracking workflow and producing operational and complex management reports. Worked on initial developments, enhancements and production support.

System used to access a data warehouse and produce reports on telephone network capacity. FOCUS batch processing on an MVS mainframe, using FTP, UNIX scripts, Oracle DBMS and PL/SQL.

(November 1991 to April 1992)

Developed files and programs to match requests from Ward Managers to a pool of part time nurses, taking note of managers' and nurses' preferences, nurses' qualifications and availability, etc. The system was developed in PC FOCUS.

April to October 1991

Developed REXX programs and utilities to assist operations support perform routine tasks such as accepting new users, monitoring resource usage, processing logins and passwords.

October 1990 to March 1991

Developed a complex report producing the 'Key Performance Indicators' for BT Top Management and the Government. These figures were obtained from a variety of electronic sources using FOCUS on a VM platform.

October 1987 to September 1990 (c. 3 years)

CSS Project Budgeting. Developed from rough design (by LOGICA), a Budget Planning system based on the management hierarchy, allowing managers at each level to perform 'what-if' adjustments before deciding upon final allocations, then passing control to a lower level. The system was adopted nationally. Used FOCUS via a LAN and WAN to a TSO/MVS Mainframe.

Wide variety of experience including FOCUS, REXX, MVS/JCL, SYMPHONY and early e-mail. Also various projects converting and enhancing all standard software from CLIST & EXEC to REXX.

PC FOCUS project preparing invoices in connection with airport refuelling systems shared by many oil companies.

COBOL programming to convert complex Payroll following the break-up of AT&T into many 'baby-bells'. Also used FOCUS for transferring large numbers from one payroll to another.

Prior to 1980: Computer Maintenance Engineer, RAF Radar Fitter, Trainee Chemist.

Commenced schooling in Canada.

Secondary school was in UK - Leyton County High School, where he obtained five 'O' Levels.

Some years later he obtained a BA degree from the Open University.

He took a year out to get a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) (specialising in Further Education) but did not teach.

He has taken many part time courses including Diploma in Management Studies, ONCs in Electrical Engineering and in Management Studies, and many computer skills courses.
