Jay got the win with 57 Steven Hardy second in a great looking Escort MKI and 351 Tut Knowles third. In the final Jay won and I was gobsmacked that the front tyre of that Escort of Steven lifted off the ground round the corner.Tres Impressive Ann Potts won the Grand National with Jay second and 9 Philip Varley third.. Tut had not finished as he got a flat tyre and 208 Paul Yeates pulled off the track too (he has very big hands) . Jay is the new champion and although 480 David Little was at the track with his rebuilt car , he did not race today...
BANGERS and we had 68 cars ready to rumble and 28 of the duly rolled out for heat one .. The Steeles were back , in
unpainted cars, they couldn't be arsed , they have been too busy at work (choose the excuse you prefer from the two
rumours that went round the track) We also had Team V in attendance as well so we knew we were in for some action.. Phew and what action. 315 Simon Ollerenshaw got us a red flag after hitting the wall awkwardly , he staggered away and
after the restart we got our first Warton Crush of the day.. 41 Dan (he's my hero) Steele bashed his way into the mess
repeatedly , he got through and went on his way (swoon) .. I was in the middle of a cloud of tyre smoke and steam and as it cleared I was horrified to see that Andy Pennington 666 had his car planted in the mound that I usually stand on .. I had
decided not to stand there for this heat .. Phew (again) 69 Mark Bass won , 690 Peter Richardson second and 351 Tut Knowles ??? Third ( I did see him arrive with TWO cars earlier :)) Heat two and 266 Alan Roskell had a look under one of the other cars in a nice crush on the pit wall.. Then we were treated to a fantastic MOVING train.. I have never seen anything like it !!! It did at least three laps before coming to an halt.. 461,427,97 and 356 formed another train completely blocking the far corner , thankfully the race had finished 431 Dean Steele (gosh) won.. 188 Chris Burgess second and erm that was that , out of 35 starters !! Another amazing sight , apart from 949 Tony Rex's dog strapped to his roof , which at the flick of a switch wagged its tail , barked and walked .. well its legs moved.. Gawd it was funny.. No the amazing sight to which I reefer was none other than a moving Warton Crush.. A massive blockage on the far corner slid round the track to the pit exit and that was that it was not going anywhere so the race was red flagged restarted and after 170 Robert Wignall brought out another red flag the heat was abandoned and all those still able to move were allowed into the final .. 803 84 949 461 41 506 36 491 34  The final was a bit dull at first.. But my o my  with BOTH Steeles in the same race you know that there will be some action.. Nasty Deano (boo hiss hiss) followed 949 Tony ruff in and was duly hit hard by  Big Al of Team V and that yeuky Dan Steele stuck himself on the back of that lot .. nasty man !! (Hey I'm impartial) Big Al had had a fantastic day of mindless destruction he had earlier squished 292 TMK's new boy Stephen Greenwood to name but one.. 84 Alan (be careful how you spell this surname) Morphet (phew) got a win , 297 Tim Nickson and 175 John Harwood third... Chris (that other website photographer) decided he wanted to race in the Banger Mechanics race.. I laughed as I saw a car spin itself into the inner wall sparks flying , he waved me over and I was gobsmacked to see it was Chris , with my camera on board and the big lens was somewhere in the car !!! (A bill for £3000 will be on its way to you matey) as it happened he was out of the race and as it started the 29 cars got on a WJ and another new TMK car 111 Grim Reaper Jeff Pratt powered his way though the mess and sped off (I had given up taking photos as I have no flash on my camera and it was dark!!) Big Al followed , Dan Steele (of who I have no thoughts or opinions) bravely smashed and bashed and tore his way heroically through the gaggle of wrecks.. Big Al then planted 111 and on the next lap Invader 511 Brian Woods was spun out by the Big Al Cars 175 ,315 and 461 seemed to work as a team and three abreast smashed , bashed and broke through the blockage , except 461 who's car seemed to expire in the conflict.. It all ended in a massive traffic jam with 149,351,266,175 and 316 in a long moving train..  As darkness descended it was DD time Awesome hit on 149 (TMK's Paul Gore) by 266 BIG AL !! They were both out of the race and car.. AND SHOCK HANDS in a very sporting sort of way (sweeeet) The car of Snapper popped its engine in a great way as the win was given to 351 with 143 almost still running... We then had a fantastic firework display , from the Invaders, which put the Millennium Eiffel Tower show to shame... or not.
And that was a DARK end to a fantastic fun and exciting day @ Warton..
Except that I got a call from 666 TMK Andy (road reaper) Pennington who wanted me to pass on his thanks and gratitude to 53 Dave Cuthbert , who helped Andy and his family get home after their Truck broke down , no lights, they rigged up some so Andy could get home.. So thanks mate and I believe Andy will buy you a pint or three at the pis.. err Presentation night on 17th November :))  -- Is the old Devil mellowing ???      Mmmmmmm we will have to wait to see.
