8-10-00 : Rose of Lancashire Trophy Sponsored by : R.E.M. Photo & Video Telephone: 01524 67049
So here we were again .. The weather had been given as to be sunshine , with heavy showers and a cool wind... And it was bob on :)) Overall a really pleasant autumnal day :)) Simon Ollerenshaw was back with a car and showed me his scar.. Nice.. Looked like he'd had nine inch nails in his eyelid , and it was all sown up again.. Lovely... I get a little queasy
watching Casualty on TV , but I was brave and gave a meek smile :) No Steeles again today.. Not sure what's going on there... I was also pleasantly surprised to see a load of Invaders had turned up ... Some were away at Hennesford (or
wherever it is in Brum) but I was gleefully told that 518 Jon Woods was away having "the snip" .. Yet again I became queasy... :(( I was a little miffed with myself for forgetting the 10p each photos for the Track Shop , after I had plugged them in the program, along with the sponsors Videos also available from the same place !!! Doh! and double Doh!! Still we sold a load anyway.. But what went on on the track ???? Well the Mini Stox were back in force, 16 starters in heat one , inc. 222 Alex Schofield and 2 Richard Ball in the first race between each other since the lengthy ban they both got for being naughty.. The race was red flagged when 99 Colin Patten (also back after a big break) was pushed into the wall hard and did an impression of Unlimited Mini driver 62 David Eccles, who you will remember damaged his bits a few meetings ago... But there was more action as a very annoyed Alex Schofeild leap out of his car to the car of Mr Ball and , shall we say , tested Richards helmet for cracks and his car for boot prints.. We were unsure as to why he did , a rumour was that he (Richard) had tapped Alex's car as they came to an halt... Alex then promptly stomped off the track and that was that... A complete restart was had and 811 Richard Parker , the new lad doing very well so quickly, was hit into the same wall as Colin had just been in , again an impression of what I can only assume to be their idol , 62 David Eccles , only Dave's car this time and a lovely bent front end , Richard continued racing the rest of the day too , shows some guts that :)) That 116 Chris Turner guy won with Richard Ball 2nd and Dan Wrennall getting third just from 999 Kieron Shaw ... Heat Two 14 Starters and some
trepidation with both Alex And Richard Ball out again... But the action came from Bad Boy Burt (number 24) who hit the
inner wall after a puncture left him with little/no grip as he slid to an halt.. Richard Ball and Alex diced (cleanly) for the lead , but Richard got it and held on , Dan Wrennall sneaked past Alex and nicked 2nd from him...(it was such a clean race that Daz want to sponsor it !!). 15 starters in the Final and 505 Daniel Canavan gave us a red flag after spinning out in the far corner, he stayed in his car and was hit some laps later , a hurt leg was his injury and he got a piggy back ride off the St Johns guy ... The same guy carried off 888 Anthony Kerr who had hurt his leg after a tangle AFTER he had finished the race !!! Those St Johns guys are soo butch ;) .. That man 116 Chris Turner won the race with 343 Lee Wrennall getting second and Richard Ball third..The Grand National and three cars out on lap one (24,999,18 Andrew Molloy) at the end 101 James
Hayhurst hit the wall and seemed to have hurt his arm.. Chris Turner again took the win , 2 Richard Ball second and Lee Wrennall third.. To all the lads hurt I wish you well and hope you will be back racing soon.
Unlimited Minis had unlimited action (hee hee that's a good line :)) and Ste Smith again provided a lot of it.. He lead heat one from about the forth lap, he seemed invincible until on the last lap , the last corner .. his engine died.. David Eccles was steaming around the corner as 165 Joanne Cleece (Happy Birthday) selflessly push Ste over the line to take the win.. Jo wins my Sporting Person of the meeting award :)) 62 Dave got second and 25 Andy Yeats got third.. Heat two and again Ste took an early lead , he got in a tangle with backmarkers and Dave Eccles got past him.. Ste got the lead back but had to slow again cause of a backmarker and Dave took the win , Ste second and Shaun Yeats third... (all that action was in the last one and a half laps :)) The final and Ste again was well in the lead , would you believe that yet again his engine blew ON THE LAST CORNER and he coasted over the line in third , Dave again got the win and Shaun Yeats third...Yep it was eventful
19 Stock Cars began heat one the track was very slippy and these cars ain't easy to control in these conditions.. Mind you they all did very well , and only 102 Dean Simpson and 382 got attached and couldn't get free of each other... That Steve Green (90) won with 590 Julian Naylor second and 28 Paul Wilson. Steve Green had a difficult time in heat two as his front suspension hung off , he finished but many others didn't , there were stock cars all over the place ... 28 (or is it 172 - too many numbers !!) Paul Wilson got the win , but his engine was to blow (in Ste Smith style) in the final at 100 miles an hour , well nearly... 65 was out early too and 383 lost a wheel on the inner wall... 211 Steve Padgett got the win , 5 Jonathan Clarkson and 590 Julian Naylor in attendance... Mr Clarkson (5) took the win in the Grand National 590 Julian Naylor went out with a flat tyre (odd choice - I prefer humans ..) 329 David Collins got second third went to 211 Mr Padgett.. He then ended up in a three car mess after the race finished... Still "That's racing" -- or at least that's what most drivers mutter.
Super Bangers had a quiet day today , not their engines tho... God they are noisy so and so's :)) Again the first race of the
day was slippy and dodging piroets and spins 439 Jay Kellett got his first win of the day , 351 Tut Knowles was second and 100 Ann Potts was third.. Exactly the same result in heat two , 111 Jeff Pratt had been dicing with Ann for third , but slid out :( Ann won the Final in a close race Jay was second and Tut third.. Jay got the win in the Grand National with Tut second and 9 Philip Varley getting third ..
Bangers and to be honest a dull start , these cars couldn't seem to get grip or speed , and they seemed reluctant to touch , even with 5 Team Motley Krew and 3 Invaders.. 666 Andy Pennington lost his tyre and carried on on his rim :)) 506 Jason Davies won , 36 Ray Sharrock got second and third went to 519 John Woods.. Heat two and a little more action after a restart to get 511 Brian Woods going.. We had a Warton crush at the pit gate , I was at the other end , and on my own taking photos today so I'm not sure of all the details, however 108 Chris Gibson had received an hard hit off someone as his rear was very compact indeed, car 82 Paul Faulkner was also doing impressions , or rather his car bonnet , I think it was trying to be The Sydney Opera House , but I could be wrong.. 20 had started and 297 Timothy Nickson came out on top 175 John Harwood followed him and he was followed by 336 ..The action in the consolidation started BEFORE the race and two cars Blacked Flagged , both TMK 449 Mark (I live for Big Macs) Thomas and 149 Paul (How I get dragged into this) Gore , for not lining up in the correct place on the grid (the cars MUST line up in a certain order - dictated by their allotted roof colour) .. At least I think that is what happened.. The race was very processional after a quiet exciting start.. 508 Tony Bradley won , 517 Keith Flynn second with 266 Alan Roskell third.. Whey hey an open final 33 cars line up and we are off !!!!!
But what happened ??? Click here to find out :))
