to see two Prairies all dolled up , one for the Invaders and the other from TNT. The latter having a woman in the back (as in doll) bizarre !!! , my father had owned at least 4 of them ,surviving a nasty head on smash some years back " because the engine is transverse" (sideways and therefore stronger) .A really nice Vauxhall Viva was out in a silver finish.. Great. Also back was Alan 512 , the bloke who gave us , and himself , a scare last meeting after being crushed by a flat out Big Al in the banger mechanics last time. He proudly told me that the car started and the wheels spun , for a short time , bare in mind that this car had a very bend back end and it was rear wheel drive , and you would not be surprised to hear that the
driveshaft then broke !!!! Well Alan seemed a little surprised .. Still , nice to see your Ok and racing !!! In a VW Golf !! I wished him luck. 62 David Eccles had a car , as I have mentioned , but his mate 44 Ste Smith drove it after Dave's Unlimited Mini crash.. So the scene is set and Heat one got underway . The commentator seemed disappointed at the lack of action in this race , we had a few spins and pushes etc , but nothing to get our teeth into. A scare for the resplendent yellow Lada , with my address on the side , 143 Sam Begley ,who's car was hit as he was getting out , he was Ok and watched 818 Mr Bump win with 133 second and 519 John Woods third... Heat two and more action from the 21 starters , the Prairies and Viva were out as was 50 Jamie (naked driver ??) Lathom in an Astra.. 512 Alan started this race too. I had , in the previous Stock Car race , been stood ontop of a pile of gravel , and watched this race from another pile in horror as TNT's 128 Scott Owen buried himself , albeit with some help, in the pile I had been stood on not 10 minutes earlier... (was it a conspiracy ??) The race started and he carnage started to build up nicely too. We had a Warton crush in the bottom corner with no way through for a while..Chris , from the other Warton Site said he got loads of photos of cars piling in the mess , Alan I bet thought
history was repeating... But he drove away , as did most every one else and the winner was .. 119 (after laps were deducted from cars cutting through the infeild) with 517 (that wood be a Would then !! err no Keith Flynn ) second and (another Wood -- YES Alan !!!!) third !!!!! (an Invader invasion :)). The Consolation and cars all over the show !! 54 Stephen Metcalfe , a mate of 50 Jamie - with a working radio !!! , came third just behind 316 Jason Ollerenshaw(in an FSO estate modelled on Capt. Scarlet i.e. indestructible) who in turn followed the winner car 510 !!!!(a day driver methinks) The final and 666 Andy Pennington's car was out ready to go , it was removed from the track , as Andy was not driving it, but allowed to race after some discussion with officials.. and we are off in this the Warton Banger Final err sorry I slipped into Murry mode then :) 146 , anther website plugging car forced out the red flags after rolling on the far straight ... and I didn't see it happen :( . He was Ok and rolled back over while still sat in his car !! Odd but true :) Out of the 23 starters only six finished !! 316 Jason in that FSO first (he's doing really well at the mo) 133 Alan Briscoe second and 510 claiming third... A massive 25 starters in the Banger Mechanics meant that we had another Warton Crush , but this time at our end of the track :)) I snapped a couple of cars flying after hitting the inner wall and the ensuing blockage that followed . It was to tightly packed so the red flags came out (also to help 410 get out of his car) and the track was cleared. After the restart things calmed down a bit, a win again for that FSO estate 316 with 54 inc. radio second and 806 third.. 806 also did well in the DD , he won!!! 62 driven by Ste Smith and 806 nearly had an head on , but missed , 316 That blinking FSO estate of Jason's nearly won , but passed away in the hands/wheels of 208 Angela Fryer ... Smoke , steam and oil everywhere (just like the chippy her father owns) -the sponsor of the previous meeting :) .. But that was another great meeting at Warton as seen by me and my odd and somewhat disturbed little mind.
SNORKS CLOSING THOUGHT: Although racing is dangerous and these drivers put themselves at risk to entertain us the
punters ,tempers sometimes flare and that is not fun to watch (Ok I'm lying here) . So lets keep it a little calmer next
meeting , 24th Sept. , when the kids go out in bangers again-- So , OK it won' t be calm for the kids ,our Anthony (Woody) Woodward is out again in his reshaped Metro.. But the bangers can show us how to keep it friendly :) What ?? Oh we have the first heat of the 12 on 12 with Incarace ... OK GUYS , inc. Andy 666 Pennington , give em hell and show em what we have !!!! Save the namby pamby nice stuff for next meeting ... Go Get Em !!!
PS. Andy and the Steele bros. , not forgetting Mark 69 Bass , your all on the same team at this meeting -- SO LEAVE EACH OTHER ALONE !!!!
Till the next meeting BYE :)
