This was a meeting and a half... The Bangers were all non Ford so we had a load of Ladas,FSOs,Vauxhalls (inc. a lovely 1965 (allegedly) Viva) and even two Datsun Pararies.. The action was mainly later in the day , but my word it was good..Unlimited Minis and Super Bangers had an interesting day ... All in all an eventful day..  The Weather was overcast with drizzle , but dry most of the day and warm , well I was warm !! So what went on on the track.. Well..
MiniStox and a return of 2 Richard Ball and 222 Alex Schofield (although Alex didn't race) Heat one and we had 16 starters.. and some great action ,888 Anthony Kerr was spun out quite early on , and on a slippy track , speeds were a little slower than normal. 116 that man Chris Turner, took a win with Richard Ball second and Kieran Shaw 999 an impressive third. Heat two and another impressive run from 999 Kieran,unfazed by the two red flags before the race got going , he lead until the final lap when 2 Richard Ball and 116 Chris Turner sneaked past him to place him third again.. Another third place for
Kieron in the final , which saw 342 Dan Wrennall get the win and 116 Chris grab second , the highlights of the race were 888 Anthony Kerr spending most of the race with a flat front tyre and 990 Kieron Brookes going out after hitting a spun car hard , hurting his foot , he parked at the pit gate and was lifted out and treated while the race continued , Drive in hospital ? Now that could catch on .. "Fix a broken rib and stop a bleeding nose please" "Would you like a plaster with that sir??" - Na stupid idea..The Grand National , and still 14 cars on the grid. Apart from Mr Ball pulling out right at the start.. 116 Chris Turner won , Dan Wrennall 342 second with 24 David Burton following.. Also a big Warton hello to driver 881 in what I
assume was his first meeting in a strangely familiar MiniStox.. You did very well mate and keep it up :))
Unlimited Minis and an up and down day for 62 David Eccles , who was also racing an Hyundai in the Bangers (prepare to trash one :) ) Heat one 14 starters and an impressive win , by almost half a lap , for 42 Ste Smith with 26 Shaun Yeats and 62 David Eccles following , just :) . 134 Alex Chapman and 274 David Christopher both pulled up with what I assumed to be
engine probs. On to Heat two and a massive accident for 62 David Eccles , he trashed his passenger corner after a major coming together with the wall and many other cars , the red flags were waving but the others kept piling in the stricken cars , like a banger race. Maybe the road was slippy or they didn't see the flags , but an ambulance was called out and we all waited with bated breath , Dave's girlfriend was distraught with worry - and even more so when she realised what part of Dave was hurt (you work it out :) ) I'm sure his voice went up an octave , or two !!! Other than that he was OK , irony coming in to play again as he had just raced in the bangers the race before , without incident :) or injury to his knac.. err I'll leave that there I think :)  ERM  oh yeah the Final . David , still doing Michael Jackson impressions , was out racing , as was 26 Shaun Yeats who had welded an entire wheel mount back on his car , that had been sheared right off in the aftermath of the last race. 44 Ste Smith stormed to the front on the first lap .. and won. 62 David "ohh" Eccles got second with Shaun third.
Stock Cars and some more new faces and paint jobs.. Heat one , 15 starters and a very slippy track for these cars , 65 Nathan Lawson was out after one of many coming togethers in the damp conditions.. 90 Steve Green sneaked the win on the last lap with 717 Mark Duckett getting second and third was 5 Jonathan Clarkson.. Heat two and more action with two cars ending up well and truly on the infield and 329 David Collins trailing a piece of his outer frame for a couple of laps before stopping. A win for 717 Mr Duckett and second for 90 Steve Green with that bloke 5 Jonathan in third. The final and another win for 90 Steve (I never fired blanks) Green -the pace car visibly groans under the weight of his kids on the lap of honour :) :) (not that they are fat !!!! No there just soo many of em !!!) 329 David Collins got second with 19 Simon(I'm not one of Steve's kids!!!) Green third . The Grand National and a win for 329 David Collins with 211 Steve Padgett second and 5 J.
Clarkson (no not that one) third.....
Super Tempers ... Oh sorry  Super Bangers .. I want to tell you a story .. Once upon a time there were two drivers of Super Bangers , 480 David Little and 22 Anthony Kenny , they lived on the track racing and occasionally touching each others cars to gain track position.. This day however things got a little heated. In heat one , with 11 other cars (13 in total) inc. three new drivers, they got on Ok ... They laughed as the new boys , on a slippy track , spun and danced all over the track . In fact it went so well that 22 Anthony Kenny won the race with Mr Little second. 351 Tut Knowles got third and all was quite Ok in Super Banger world.. Then came along the BIG BAD HEAT TWO and things got a little (no pun intended) not so happy for our heroes.. Both of them went out of the race after many hits and spins from other cars and each other :(. Ann (no e) Potts got through all the mess and won the race 439 Jay Kellett was second and that nice Simon Varley 21 got third.. Mr
Little was more than a little miffed at Mr Kenny and said so .. I hid !!! In the Final 100 Ann Potts hit the wall and knacked her steering while leading , but no the big thing was a big hit in the wall for car 22 helped by Mr Little , who was trying to kill Kenny ?? ... 439 Jay Kellett won the race and we awaited the Grand National..The other Super Bangers looked nice and calm , after all Kenny and Little were miles apart on the grid.. unfortunately David had a spin after a tussle and ended up on the inner wall. He was about to get off when who should come barrelling around the corner , yes it was Mr Kenny and he was unpleased.. This is where it turned into a 60's Batman episode with all the Biffs and Bash , Wallops and Crickeys , Anthony hit Dave head on sending him well onto the infeild. Dave was now unpleased and we had some car argy bargy until David got out of his car .... then it happened.. Oh is that the time ? time you were in bed . I'll finish this story next time :)
Ohh the winner was,after a restart,  351 Tut Knowles with 439 Jay Kellett and 100 Ann Potts behind.. "If I wanted to race bangers I would not have built a Super Banger" David Little was heard saying a little later...  (PS he's NOT Little and I hope he's calmed down enough to find this bit amusing -- If not HELPPPPPPPP !!!!!!) (No doubt Mick will mention it too)
Right so that's that then , next meeting is .... Oh hang on I forgot That was Super Bangers , which means I have not done Bangers !!! As I mentioned at the top it was a Non Ford meeting and as I predicted the Steeles were not racing (on holiday I found out later) shame really as I'm sure there would have been a wry smile or two for Team Motley Krew , who arrived with all red cars !!!! I kid you not RED CARS!!!!! And I get stick for driving a red road car !!! There was an even bigger surprise for me with not one , two three or four , but FIVE cars all with my website address on the side of them :) :)  I was also surprised
