Lads oh Lads oh Lads (and Lasses) What can I say about this meeting other than it was really very good... We had everything from fun to drama , rain to glorious sunshine.. A good crowd today as well - aren't you glad you came ???
First off though , our best wishes go out to Marshall Frank Hetherington , who you remember from last time he almost got squished by a rolling Super Banger. Well this time he went one better , in Heat two of the Robins , he went to the assistance of a couple of drivers who had rolled , to check if they were Ok and help them out , he was on the track as another robin rolled and slid into the first robins AND FRANK. He disappeared under the wreck and slid along a little way.. Got up and ran to the infield then sat down. He was more than a little shaky and had a cut nose , The St Johns took him away to hospital for a check up and we later heard he was Ok and had been discharged , I figured he weren't to bad as he was smiling as he was put in the Ambulance , but still it shook us all up a bit and again we wish him well. But what can he do for a encore next time eh ... Have an aeroplane land on him , be abducted by aliens .... :)))
But we had the Robins , hereby known as pigs , and boy did they entertain us ???? Yup.
Carl gave us a couple of Murryisums , the best being "Put yer Helmet down" As a driver t for some obscure reason...
Weather , well it did rain - loads at first - like a real Warton raceday :))) .. after a while it stopped and the sun came out , it was lovely ... Although all day it was warm and very sweet ... Awwww .. So what was the racing like ???? WELL
In the Ministox we had a major fight on track between 2 Richard "I'm a super star you know" Ball and 222 Alex "look at the state of my car" Schofield as they spun each other off at every opportunity or rammed each other .. It was fun to watch , and no doubt will get a mention in the program next meeting.. Highlight of heat one was 781 Adam Asquith braking down and his car getting clobbered by 24 Bad Boy Burt.. Adam's car lost a wheel.... Heat Two and loads of action all over -- I took loads of pics, this heat also had a long red flag break too , I know not why.. The Final was mainly Ric and Alex trying to kill each other and in the Grand National there was no sign of Ric and the Wrennall bros. had a great race...
Bangers had another great meeting , no Deano , but Dan put on a good show.. The Motley Krew also had a good run out and we got a roll. Heat one and a big pile up in the pit wall , the Yank of Paul Eccles was buried into the wall... 316 Jason (my god this is a long surname) Ollerenshaw had a great roll in Heat two and Dan impressed me by the way he slid the car , on a bend , to clobber the other cars and causing minimal damage to his own car , this guy can drive.. In the Final we had the rare site of all the Motleys on the track at the same time... a massive hit from 690 Peter Richardson , may start a new war between the Motley lads and Team Sharrocks... 666 Andy Pennington showed plenty of driving skill, controlling skids like the demon he is :))) , but despite all this , not one of the Mots finished the race ... Banger Mechanics race was , as is usual now , more like a DD.. and in the DD we had a MASSIVE hit for that man 362 Paul Eccles , in his Thunderbird , it was killed dead by slamming into the concrete infield , so hard that the concrete has shifted all the way to the corner ... Awesome damage.
Super Bangers and Stock Cars had a run of races that were fast and lacking in much incident , it was good to see that most of the drivers can cope just as well in the wet as the dry.. And it was good to see a few new Stock Cars racing as well ..
The Unlimited Minis had a fun day too , Heat one saw 354 loosing a wheel , with little consequence to him and a shock that that odd shaped car 15 Dave Robertson had a burst of speed and did really well in the rain. 44 Ste Smith got hit hard and out of the days racing as did 274 David Christopher , who I think blew his engine too all in Heat Two and 62 David Eccles lost a wheel on the back straight and drove FULL PELT into the wall at the far corner .. His car was very badly damaged and he was lucky to walk away ... His hand later swelled up to the size of a balloon , but as with most drivers , he didn't go to the St Johns people ( silly boy !!!) In the Program there was a little tail about last weekends meet at Barrow , It seemed that 2 Richard Ball and 116 Chris Turner - both Ministox drivers- were asked to pull out of a heat "to give the Barrow lads a chance as our two were too fast :))" Unlimited Mini driver 354 Peter Beresford asked Carl (commentator) "Can 62 Dave Eccles , 44 Ste Smith and 274 Dave Christopher miss a heat so I might get somewhere too?" . Well mate the final saw your wish come true ... but where were you :)))))) Yer gotta laff (-:
OK Robin Banger time (((((-: Hee hee hee what can I say about these little Pigs hey .. At the beginning we saw some
fantastic paint jobs and very well turned out cars , by the first corner they were damaged paint jobs and well turned over cars.. There really was so much action , rolls and incident that I have only the room to tell you the absolute highlights and the lowlight I have already mentioned above.. Heat one and Pigs a plenty some really scary rolls and hard hits into the wall and each other . Heat two was abandoned after the incident with Frank , although the action previous to that was unbelievable.. A result was called and the Pigs returned for the final... and a huge pile up on the corner and a number of cars were reduced to rollcages and flappy roofs.. The mess after these races is scary I tell you.one pile of rubble turned out to be Daz's car , still going , it was later reduced to a rollcage on wheels . Then we were treated to AN EXTRA RACE yes a Pig DD and what a race it was... 175 John Harwood and team mate 756 Peter Blundell seemed more interested in just racing and having as little contact as possible , not the idea in a DD, but wait we found a new hero in 340 Jonathan Atkinson , who after rolling on the start finish straight , got out of his Pig and rolled it back on its wheels , got in and drove off in hot pursuit of the two team-mates , after some argy bargy he bashed , clobbered , was hit , hit back and eventually won the DD and got the loudest cheer I HAVE EVER HEARD @ Warton for ANY driver EVER !!!!!!1
What a great day it was ... Unless your Frank :)) ... anyway next meeting and I get in a car and race ... Now I am scared :))
