Ahhh yes its June ... Summertime ... But we are at Warton .. so? Well to be honest , it was not bad :) Dry-just a few spots of rain , I counted six, but a cold wind ... Brrrrr ... I still got a red face tho :))) and I had no beer :))))))) Erm :((((((((
It twas a day of firsts (again) - But for me !! :)) . The first time I have EVER driven a car with a loaded , or unloaded for that matter, trailer and the first time I have ever driven a banger, albeit only in the pits, draughty aren't they :)).
Also Carl , the announcer, had a meeting off and another guy , I know not his name , filled in splendidly. He was very good , a little quick at giving out the results , but that ain't bad is it ??? Anyway - well done mate ..
I had a chat with Mr O'Brien (God @ Warton) and he said that he wanted this site to be the official one from now on... Scary or what.. So .. Erm it is .. I will still be as nasty/funny or stupid as ever dependent of what you think :) .. Remember the views on this site are mine and not that of the Warton committee.
I had a chat with 274 David Christopher, unlimited mini driver , whom you may remember had a bad meeting last time out .. it seems as well as having a wheel fall off , in a big way , he also blew his engine , a piston thro the top of his engine and loads more damage , caused by driving his stricken Mini for a few too many laps. shame :(
But what about the races proper ??? Well....
The Bangers had a great meeting , as there were two lots this time out.. the grown ups had an interesting meeting , the most interesting meeting , since breaking two ribs in the Robin meeting last year , for 666 Andy Pennington.. He finished the first race , AND SCORED POINTS... but that was not all... In the Final Mr Pennington came Third although he pointed out that " I came first , that Steele couldn't have effin won as i effin lapped him when he was effin stuck on that effin corner .. effin t-word... " " did you effin see him effin t-word our effin fat team mate by effin following him into the effin wall ??? Well I effin did !!!" Erm yes thanks Andy - all I need now is a bleep machine , now there's an idea. 27 Jemmy Stanton (my mate) who did so well last time out , in his first meeting , had a good day again- in the same car , if someone slags off a Lada then tell them the tale of the Jemmy bloke at Warton. First heat lost his tyre and was only on his rim ( there's a joke in there somewhere) . Anyway after rimming he almost finished the next heat , but his drivers protection plate came off , but the car still runs !! So 44 Ste Smith brought it out to race in the Banger Mechanics and trashed it a little , but with a new diff IT WILL RETURN .. well maybe :) ... Other highlights included 501 Steven Kaye, an invader pickup, jumping and in the air being hit causing it to spectacularly roll.. The driver was OK , and if I might say a little barking "Did you get a picture of that " were his first words to me.. Oh and how could I forget the major action on the pit corner that caused major congestion as I sat alone in the other corner with only brush rolling by .. That was after the consolidation race (not to be confused with the arbitrary race) was added to by cars arriving late 5 times - almost doubling the field from the first time the pit door was closed.. And the chaotic Final when everyone thought they'd won . And the red flag in the Banger Mechanics race when 512 was pushed hard , via his drivers door , into 431 Deano Steele (boo) was getting out of his car at the time and was on the roof !!! Thankfully he only cut his hand and the driver of 512 was Ok as well.. And the big hit in the DD of 515 and 157 whom both ended up on the wall with very bashed cars indeed.. Yes it was a good bangers day :)
The Stock cars two had a good day - clean racing throughout and little incident , so few repair costs ??? I think not.. But in the first heat I thought that the Gallagher Bros. were spectating as a huge plume of white dust rose up from the far corner , but no it was a car hitting the wall sending cement up..5 Jonathan Clarkson , was not best pleased in the second heat as he was mounted by 55 Martin Creek , and they were both up the Martin without a paddle.. (can I say that ?) Other than that it was VERY fast VERY noisy and very clean :)
The Super Bangers had a fantastic turn out -- and the action was amazing !!!!! Heat one and number 70 rolls. 351 creamed the opposition in heat two . The final saw number 70 nearly cause 480 David Little to roll his car... But excellent action from all the drivers and the most entertaining that I have ever seen em !!!
Unlimited action from the feisty minis and a return to form of 62 David Eccles but action also for the rest of the field and 26 Shaun Yeates who have a great meeting too.. That odd shaped 15 car returned , and broke down again... very odd :I
And that was that... Oh hang on I nearly forgot that the MiniStox drivers were out in bangers , as was 440 Anthony `Ant'(one corner) `Woody' Woodward , in his first race since the one corner incident of last year.... The Metro has taken ages to do and with allot of help from 42 Ste Smith , who basically built it , and 666 Andy Pennington , who wrote graffiti on it , we wondered if all our work was in vain.. We held our breath and yes he made it round the first corner , and later caused number 73 to roll ( apologises from Woody to you ) but hey Ant finished the race... The two Pennington Bash Bros. , didn't fair as well , but did better than Ants first attempt.... Miles better ... 293 was blacked flagged in heat two and in the precession of a final Ant came 5th !!! I was stunned in the last race as Ant WON !!!!! In the Metro I helped make and designed the paint job on... but wait ... Ahhh yes down to earth as , while celebrating his win , by waving to the pits , he drove straight into a stricken car on the track , but not any car , oh no ---- One of the Pennington`s sons cars causing the Devil incarnate , Andy , go go mental asking if Ant needs glasses and the like ... Oh how he laffed.... Oh and us too :))))
NEXT MEETING IS THE The West Coast Classic 25th June 2000 ... Be there or watch the footie !!!
I wear a Cable & Wireless hi-vis vest - come and say Hello ... I will ignore you , but still :)
