Penpoll & The Area
PenpollAvailable for holiday lets all through the year, including Christmas and New Year, Penpoll is an extremely comfortable well equipped family holiday home in superb riverside setting. (Click here to go straight to our Accommodation section). It is located in a quiet rural hamlet, away from hustle and bustle, but has the great advantage of easy access to Fowey via the Bodinnick Ferry just 2 miles away, plus the rest of this glorious part of the South Cornish coastline, where there is so much to do.

The house enjoys beautiful views of Penpoll Creek, complete with bustling birdlife and boats bobbing on their moorings. The creek runs directly in front of the house, where particularly at low tide, children can safely paddle, build dams and feed the resident swans and ducks.

The garden is steeply sloping in parts, but has pretty paths, a stream garden, and wild orchards. It is particularly attractive in spring, being covered in snowdrops, primroses and daffodils, and sunny autumn days are quite breathtaking on the river. There is plenty for children to explore and do, including a much loved pirate boat sandpit and making camps by the creek.

View of the riverOther activities on offer in this area include horse riding at Polmartin Riding; beautiful walks throughout the area, accessible directly from the cottage, and linking into closeby National Trust Coastal Paths. A rowing dinghy may be available for rent by separate agreement for use on the river, access to which is right by the house. Rowing boats and motor boats are available for hire in Fowey, and the excellent slipway at Penmarlem is less than two miles away for launching and moorings, details of charges can be obtained from Fowey Harbour Commissioners.

There are also plenty of gardens to visit close by and, of course, the Eden Project, which is less than 20 minutes away.

Coastal viewNearby pubs include those in Bodinnick and Lerryn, which also has an excellent village shop. Fowey boasts an impressive number of extremely good restaurants.

The nearest Rail Station is at Bodmin Parkway (25 minutes away). Flights to/from Newquay where hire cars are available.
