OVERVIEW OF "THE BOOTLEGGERS"
Set in 1920's and 1930's America, this game is a cross between role playing games and skirmish wargames. Each player of which there can be 2 to 6, has 4 to 20 figures each. These characters can be Bootleggers, Bank Robbers, FBI Afents, Prohibition Agents, Reporters, Policemen or Hit Men. Each of these characters have various scores which indicate their skills at Shooting etc. these are generated using 10 sided dice.
The months we spent testing the game, provided many interesting moments, laughs and bloody encounters. The options for scenarios are virtually endless, in this diverse and violent era. These might include raids, robberies, gang battles, hits, bribery and extortion. The rules are written to make all of these actions possible with sections on Driving, Trials, Sentencing and Living Costs and many others. They also allow small actions with just a couple of figures per player with need for very little else. So it is not necessary to spend a fortune, and spend endless hours painting, and you can see if you really like the game and the era.
Some other great features of the game are the random tables, which add variety and humour to the situation. Another is that it is possible to taylor the game to suit the time available to you. It is possible to have a one hour shoot-em-up, or a long bloody gun battle or a campaign which is made up of both of these, during which you can get to see your team of characters develop or buried if you are unlucky.
To sum up we had great fun testing and playing this game and still play it now. The era is very charasmatic and full of colourful characters and unbelieveable incidents, powerful weaponry and a lawlessness similar to the wild west 40 or so years earlier. All of these elements make a for a lively couple of hours enterainment.
Have fun!!!!
