Rowland and Wilma in sunny Cheltenham! Rowland and Wilma

Sometimes, when you've done something stupid, it's worth remembering that you're not the only one who makes mistakes. Here on the right is a feed from Randy Cassingham's This is True archive. Randy's collation of stories illustrates that our troubles often arise from our own silliness, and that whatever daft thing you might have done recently, somebody out there can probably top it.

The feature above uses Javascript. If you can't see the story from This is True, your browser might have the Javascript capability turned off.

To turn on active scripting:

  • In Windows IE: Select Internet Options in the Tools menu. Select the Security tab. In the box that says "Security level for this zone", make sure the setting is on Medium, not High. If you want to keep the high security level and activate scripting, click on Custom Level, scroll down to Scripting and activate the three items there.
  • In Mac IE: Select Preferences under the Explorer or Edit menu. Under the Web Browser section, select Web Content. In the "Active content" box, check the box next to Enable Scripting.
  • In Netscape (both Windows and Mac): Select Preferences in the Edit (or Netscape) menu. Select Advanced category. Make sure Enable Javascript is selected in the Scripts & Plugins section.
  • In Safari (Mac): Select Preferences in the Safari menu. Choose the Security section. Tick the box "Enable Javascript".
